Melba told me that when she was growing up, they had a house next to a river, and at night the entire family would hear La Llorona crying from the bedroom window. She remembers in the beginning asking her father to go see if there might be a woman outside who was hurt or needed help, but her father refused to go out, believing that it was none other than La Llorona.
Melba said that she was always terrified when the crying would happen, and to this day believes that it was La Llorona outside her house next to the river.
That's creepy. I think she's real too.

I have told several people (outsiders) the story about La Llorona. They usually laugh and say its urban legend and I think that most of the story is because it has been changed and added to so many times, the basis of the story, the REAL woman who drowned her children is true, but the part about her doomed to roam the waters searching for her children while crying seems a little far fetched.

im 18 and i live with my mom due to the fact that she has a bad heart. Okay i will admit it i was a non beliver in this story. I mean come on! but something scared the shit out of me last night. See i was on teh computer when my mom called me. she siad "Did you hear that?" i just looked at her. "Hear what?" was all i ask cause i didnt hear anything. "we heard a cry. It la llorona." "oh mom please stop your going to scare me." "Im for real we heard her. now turn off your light i dont want her around the house." this i didnt get. "Why turn off my light?" i asked "cause sell walk around here if you dont." thats when i heard it...it was a moaning cry. I ran to my room turned off the light and went to lay down to my mom. i heard it about 4 time last night. I'm a balever now.
