I met Carlos from Nicaragua the other day at a marketing conference. I told him about The Cry and his immediate question was, "How are you going to market the film to Latinos in the U.S., since only people in Nicaragua know about her?"
Of course, I had to laugh, knowing that everyone seems to think La Llorona is from their own town or country. I explained to him how La Llorona has travelled across the Americas, scaring the daylights out of most everyone she comes across. He was completely amazed.
If anyone has a version of La Llorona from Nicaragua, I'd love to hear it!
I never knew that La Lorona traveled. E-mail me any thing on La Lorona.

I do think that the llorona ledgend is pretty much the same. Girl liked guy, guy didn't like girl's kids, girl drown kids, guy leave girl because she's crazy, girl looks for her kids' bodies, girl no find, girl cries and drowns herself, girl steals kids to substitute for her own but is never let to pass on. *shrugs* no biggie. XD
