There are many connections between Death and La Llorona. So, of course, when I was making my film, Death was invited.
In one of my scenes I included a life size wood sculpture of Death depicted, of course, as a skeletal figure. It was a sculpture that was made for my film by some dear friends in New Mexico who are santeros (traditional saint makers).
When Death arrived in NY and I was unloading her crate from the car to store in my apartment, a freak accident happened where I was hit on the forehead just hairs away from my right eye. I immediately grabbed my head and saw blood gushing everywhere. Then I became dizzy and passed out on the sidewalk. Fortunately, a friend was there to help me.
I almost lost my eye. Strangely, along with Death, the eyes also play an important role in my film.

I believe the Llorona is a spirit of death and fear. God has not given us a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love, & a sound mind. These spirits are fallen angels who were thrown out of heaven along with their leader Lucifer who rebelled against God. They were thrown on to earth. The only way to have power over death & destruction is through Jesus Christ who conquered death on the cross with his blood. Plead the blood of Jesus Christ over you and say the name of Jesus and command all evil to leave in Jesus name.
